Double-Blind Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to NJSS undergo a rigorous double-blind peer review process in which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed throughout the evaluation process.

The review process follows these stages:

Phase 1. Initial Editorial Screening

Submitted manuscripts are first evaluated by the editorial office in terms of:

  • Compliance with journal formatting requirements
  • Scope suitability
  • Ethical documentation
  • Plagiarism screening using similarity detection software
  • Technical completeness of submission files

Manuscripts failing to meet formal requirements may be returned to the authors before peer review.

Phase 2. Peer Review Evaluation

Manuscripts passing the initial screening are sent to at least two independent expert reviewers.

Reviewers evaluate manuscripts according to:

  • Scientific originality
  • Methodological rigor
  • Relevance to the field
  • Quality of analysis
  • Academic contribution
  • Clarity of writing and interpretation

Editorial Decisions

Based on reviewer reports, one of the following decisions may be made:

a) Accepted without revisions
b) Accepted with minor revisions
c) Major revisions required
d) Rejected

If reviewer opinions conflict, the manuscript may be sent to an additional reviewer.

A minimum of two positive reviewer reports is required for acceptance. The final publication decision belongs to the Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board.

Review Timeline

  • Initial editorial screening: approximately 1–3 weeks
  • First decision: generally within 25–45 days
  • Full editorial process: targeted within 60 days (may vary depending on revisions and reviewer availability)

Authors are expected to submit revision responses within the time specified by the editorial office.
